WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is taking $1.2 billion in high-speed rail money away from Ohio and Wisconsin and awarding it to 12 other states, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said Thursday.

The parcel tax is necessary to ensure the area has enough water in the future, said Rich Atwater, a board member for the district, which serves 30,000 customers in Altadena and also has customers in La Cañada Flintridge and La Crescenta.
