Janice Cooper

Janice Cooper is Senior Vice President of Solutions International, a firm focused on helping leading firms enter new international markets. She is currently advising a variety of Spanish firms on new market development in renewable energy, waste treatment and desalination, and transportation infrastructure. She specializes in helping foreign firms navigate the complex legislative and regulatory maze as they seek new market opportunities in these expanding sectors. She also advises U.S. firms seeking new markets in Europe.

Prior to joining Solutions International, she was a principal in Pacific Resources, an international marketing and consulting firm. Her clients included the California Council for International Trade, the Northern California World Trade Center, and several California agricultural groups. Earlier in the private sector portion of her career, she re-established government affairs for National Semiconductor and managed international trade policy for Bank of America. She has also helped establish a start-up internet services firm and developed international markets for an environmental technology company.

Her public sector experience includes positions in both state and federal governments. Cooper worked in the California Legislature, where she managed international relations for the State Assembly and was a senior committee consultant. She also served as California’s Trade Representative in Washington, D.C., developing and advocating trade policy on behalf of the State. She began her career in the U.S. Senate where she worked on foreign relations and defense policy issues for Senator Charles Mathias of Maryland.

Cooper is a member of the Council on International Trade and the Northern California District Export Council of the U.S. Department of Commerce. She has a BA degree in Political Science from UCLA and speaks Danish and Spanish.
